This exhibit is running at the Dallas Museum of Art from October 1st, 2017 thru February 25th, 2018. This is one the Infinity Mirror Rooms of Yayoi Kusama.
I paid for my ticket ahead of time and only spent about 45 seconds inside the room, any longer and I might have been overwhelmed.
It seems like a large space, but walking in there is really little room to move around and you are confined to a specific walk way. I almost felt a little claustrophobic. The colors though were brilliant and bright, I couldn’t keep my eyes focused on one specific thing, they were constantly moving around trying to take it all in.
I went in with another person whom I did not know, which made the experience a tad awkward. If I had been with another teacher, it would have been nice to be able to comment about the piece while experiencing it. Alas, I had to settle with speaking with students and another teacher who went at a different time.
This was a phenomenal experience! Definitely worth the time and money spent to see it. I saw this while taking my AP Art History students to the Dallas Museum of Art for our field trip. While there one of the docents mentioned that the DMA was trying to secure this piece for its permanent collection, which would be amazing! Crossing my fingers that we see this piece at the DMA in the future!
